Pomegranate Ranch Water
Enjoy this refreshing drink made with pomegranate juice, vodka, and sparkling water. Throw some ice in a double old fashioned glass and fill it with some Pomegranate Ranch Water, and don’t forget a twist of lime.
I like a drink where there isn’t a lot of measuring. It just sounds like work, and here I’m wanting a drink to relax.
The original recipe called for 2 tsp. of this, 1/4 cup of that, 6 Tbsp. of the other, etc. Oh, brother.
So, I simpled it up for a tasty cocktail.
All you need is a shot glass.
Naming a Cocktail
Being a blogger is fun. I get to create and name recipes, and research weird stuff.
One such weird research topic was, “What was I going to name this drink?”
Did you know drinks have different names based on the state/region they’re from? I did not know this.
A drink, the same drink, might be a “Hurricane” from New Orleans, “Moonshine” from Appalachia/Southern US, or a Nutcracker from New York City.
Now that I live in the great state of Texas, they call drinks here “Ranch Water.” I love it, so I’m going with it.
Making Pomegranate Ranch Water
First, start off with a double old fashioned glass.
Detour: Another weird thing I looked up. Ok, so a regular old fashioned glass has a wide base and holds 6 – 8 oz. of liquid.
A double holds 12 – 14 ounces.
As a woman with smaller hands, I tend to gravitate towards more narrow glasses than the wide base of an old fashioned, but you get the point.
It’s all about how many ounces it holds so you get the ratios right in the recipe.
Mason jars work great, especially if y’all are callin’ it Ranch Water.
So, let’s start over. Grab a glass, mug, red solo cup, or thermos, etc. that holds 12 – 14 ounces.
Ok, moving on.
Load the glass up with ice. Now, wait a minute. Sorry, but this is important.
If you want a stronger drink, in other words: more boozy, load it up with ice.
But, if you like a drink that’s not as strong alcohol-wise, use less ice.
In other words, less ice means you’ll be adding more sparkling water to dilute the alcohol.
I like more ice. Ha!
Ok, ready? …here we go. One shot glass of vodka, one shot glass of pomegranate juice, then top off the glass with sparkling water and give it a stir.
To be perfectly fancy, give it a twist of lime, and add a wheel or wedge of lime on the side.
Ready. Set. Sip. Mmm.
More weird stuff you could probably live without.
- Sparkling water is just carbonated water. I like Topo Chico, because it comes in plain or lime flavored. Hard pressed, you could also use 7-Up or Sprite if you’re fresh out of sparkling water, but like the bubbles.
- There is no official shot glass size — the most common size is 1.5 ounces.
- Some brands of Vodka are sugar-free and gluten free. Sugar is sometimes added in flavoring, so check the label. Also, vodka is lower in calories and carbs than other drinks, such as beer, champagne, wine, and especially mixed drinks.
- I’ve substituted white rum for the vodka in this recipe, which was good, too. Additionally, the original recipe called for blanco tequila, which I don’t usually have on hand, so I can’t say much about it. Who knows, you might like it with gin, too. I would have tried them all for you, but then I wouldn’t have been able to type this up. HA!
- Basically, I like how easy Pomegranate Ranch Water is to make. One shot glass and BOOM! …it’s a drink. Cheers!
Having a party?
Here a a few more (easy) drinks for you to check out:
- Brandy Lemonade Slushies
- Watermelon Vodka Highballs (sugar-free)
- Cucumber Mint Highballs (sugar-free)
- Butterscotch Cocoa Toddy
Disclaimer: I didn’t set out looking for healthy adult drinks, I just stumbled on the info. and thought if I’m going to have something to drink and it tastes good, I’ll go with the sugar-free.
Personally, I get a headache from too much sugar long before I can call it a hangover, so I hope this helps someone else who is prone to headaches.

A quick mention of this wonderful blank recipe book, which I helped to create with a very dear friend. Write in one or more recipes before giving it to that special person, then they can fill the remaining pages with their favorites, and/or have other special people write out recipes for them. It’s personal, and yes, it takes time and effort — something we’ve gotten away from with all this technology. Check it out HERE where you can order it in a hard or soft cover. Once there, click on READ SAMPLE to see the pages within. Also, I make no money from any sales, I just love the idea of this book. Missing my mom as I do, seeing her handwriting always makes me feel closer to her. Give that gift to someone else by writing out a favorite recipe.
