Materials

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef or ground turkey
  • 16 oz. ground pork sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  • In large Dutch oven, brown beef, sausage, onion, and bell pepper over medium-high heat, stirring often. Chop with spatula to break down meat into small pieces. Cook approx. 10 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink. Drain well.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients to the meat mixture and stir well. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Serve on toasted hamburger buns. Enjoy!

Notes

For Slow Cooker version, brown meats, onion, and pepper. Drain well, then add to slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients, plus 1/4 cup all-purpose flour. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours.
