Materials

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Granny Smith apple, chopped
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

Streusel:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. salted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9 x 9" baking dish.
  • In medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  • In large bowl, beat both sugars and butter together until smooth, about 2 min. Stir in egg and vanilla.
  • Reduce beater to low and mix in flour mixture. Do not over mix. Fold in apples and chopped nuts. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish.
  • In separate bowl, mix together the streusel: flour, both sugars, butter, cinnamon, and salt. Evenly spread streusel over top by dropping small amounts over apple mixture.
  • Bake uncovered for 28 - 32 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Enjoy!
