Apple Streusel Bars
These delicious Apple Streusel Bars have all the amazing apple pie flavors, but with very little work. Assemble this simple recipe, then top with a buttery streusel for an added crunch. Definitely a Fall favorite.
This delectable dessert is good year-round, but especially distinctive during Fall and the holidays. There’s something about the apple harvest and cinnamon.
It’s like a warm and fuzzy feeling, but in dessert form.
So, let’s make this so you can enjoy some, too.
Making Apple Streusel Bars
Let’s start with the dry ingredients. Sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt into a bowl, then set aside for now.
In a large bowl, beat the sugars with the butter until smooth and creamy. It takes just a few minutes for the sugars to break down in the butter; about 2 – 3 minutes.
Stir in the egg and vanilla until combined, then reduce the speed to low.
Add the flour mixture until mixed, but be careful to not over mix.
Fold in the apples and chopped nuts, then spread into a greased 9 x 9″ baking dish.
Meanwhile, make the streusel.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, sugars, butter, and cinnamon.
Evenly spread the streusel by dropping small amounts over the apple mixture.
Bake in a preheated oven set at 350° for 28 – 32 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool on a wire rack, or serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Perfect for Christmas, kids leaving for college, someone who has everything, and super great for bridal showers. Give the gift of this blank recipe book along with a special recipe written in your own handwriting. Fill in one recipe (or many), and you can have other friends and family add their own recipes to it, too. Personalize it with the time and effort it takes to write out a recipe. There’s also room in the Notes section where you can say why it’s special to you. (I make no money from any sales of this book, but I think it’s a lovely idea.)
I love bar cookies because they are so easy and just as tasty as traditional cookies. This recipe is no exception. If you like Dutch Apple Pie you’ll love these cookies. These apple streusel bars taste sweet and appley and brown sugary. They are moist and stay fresh tasting for several days if refrigerated. So yummy!!!!
Thanks, Roxann, I love the brown sugar in them, too.
