Making Crispy Parmesan Ranch Drumsticks
Preheat oven to 400ยฐF. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat with cooking spray.
In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
Pour the Ranch dressing into a large bowl.
Dip one drumstick into the Ranch dressing, turning to coat completely. Transfer it to the bag, seal, and shake until evenly coated.
Place the coated drumstick on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the remaining drumsticks.
Let the coated drumsticks rest on the baking sheet for about 10 to 15 minutes. This helps the coating adhere during baking.
Bake for 25 minutes. Turn the drumsticks over and continue baking for another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the coating is crisp and golden and an instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone reads at least 175ยฐF.
Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes.
Pro Tips
- Pat the drumsticks dry with paper towels before coating for the crispiest finish.
- Freshly grated Parmesan adds even more flavor, but the grated Parmesan in the shaker works great, too.
- Don’t skip the short resting time before bakingโit helps the coating stay put.
- Use an instant-read thermometer for perfectly cooked chicken every time.
- For extra browning, broil the drumsticks for the last 2 to 3 minutes, watching carefully.
Easy Variations
- Add 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika to the coating for a subtle smoky flavor.
- Sprinkle in a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like a little heat.
- Substitute panko breadcrumbs for an even crunchier coating.
- Try the same coating on chicken thighs or bone-in chicken breasts, adjusting the baking time as needed.
