Materials

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Ranch dressing
  • 5 drumsticks

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat with cooking spray.
  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  • Pour the Ranch dressing into a large bowl.
  • Dip one drumstick into the Ranch dressing, turning to coat completely. Transfer it to the bag, seal, and shake until evenly coated.
  • Place the coated drumstick on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with the remaining drumsticks. Let the coated drumsticks rest on the baking sheet for about 10 to 15 minutes. This helps the coating adhere during baking.
  • Bake for 25 minutes. Turn the drumsticks over and continue baking for another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the coating is crisp and golden and an instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone reads at least 175°F. (See Notes.) Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, then serve with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!

Notes

Even though chicken is technically safe at 165°F, drumsticks are noticeably more tender around 175–185°F because the connective tissue has had more time to break down.
Letting the drumsticks rest for 5 minutes before serving helps the juices redistribute for tender, juicy chicken.
