Materials

  • 1 cup uncooked long grain white rice (not instant or other variety)
  • 10.5 oz. can beef consommé
  • 10.5 oz. can condensed French Onion soup
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, sliced
  • Optional Garnish: fresh parsley, cilantro, or diced green onions.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°.
  • In a smaller baking dish (such as an 8 x 8" or 9 x 11"), mix together the rice, beef consommé, French onion soup, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. Stir to combine, then evenly top with slices of butter.
  • Cover with foil or lid, and bake for 30 minutes. Carefully uncover, stir, and continue baking for another 25 - 30 minutes. Check to see that liquid has been absorbed.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley, cilantro, or diced green onions. Enjoy!

Notes

Reheat with a splash of beef broth or water.
