Blueberry Banana Smoothie
The sweet medley that goes into making this Blueberry Banana Smoothie is simply scrumptious. Berries are some of our favorite superfoods, and blueberries are at the top of the list. Combine that with frozen banana, spinach, (another superfood), and protein powder for a healthy meal or snack.
The combination of flavors, such as almond butter, cinnamon, blueberries, and banana, make this so delicious you’ll want it every day.
It’s also a great post-workout smoothie to aid muscle recovery. This doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym, no. It means after doing a bunch of yard work, or cleaning the house, too. Anything active where you use your muscles.
In fact, I’d rather go to the gym than give my house a good spring-cleaning, but it has to be done.
Making a Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Freezing Bananas
One thing to think about before making your smoothie is to first freeze your bananas.
A few different ways to do this, but first, always peel them. Also, break them into quarters so your blender doesn’t have to work so hard.
So, one way is to have a cookie sheet that fits into your freezer. Place the pieces on the cookie sheet, put them in the freezer, then once frozen, store them in a sealed container.
Another way is to put them in layers with waxed paper between the layers. Do this in a sealed container, then place the container in the freezer to freeze the bananas.
Freezing Blueberries
With the blueberries, either buy frozen, or freeze your fresh blueberries. The same as with the bananas, freeze them on a cookie sheet, then when they’re little blue ice cubes, pour them into a sealed container for future use.
If for any reason you haven’t had time to freeze anything, you can always add ice cubes to the mix.
Ok, let’s make a smoothie.
Oh, this is so easy, you’re going to love it.
Place all the wonderful ingredients in the blender and mix until smooth and the color is consistent from top to bottom.
That’s it. Yep.
Pour it into a glass and have at it.
Tastes good, right? You’re welcome. Ha! Actually, I got this recipe from the recipe booklet that came with my new blender, a Nutribullet Blender. My last blender gave up its ghost, so I got this one. Works great so far.
There’s a few other recipes in this booklet I might have to share with y’all, but I’ll try them first and see if they’re worth sharing or not.
If you love smoothies, check out my regular breakfast, a Banana Protein Smoothie. It’s similar to this one with the frozen banana and almond milk, but it has avocado for a creamy texture, and it’s less sweet.

In the meantime, have a lovely day.
A quick mention of this wonderful blank recipe book that I helped to create with a very dear friend. Write in one or more recipes before giving it to that special person, then they can fill the remaining pages with their favorites, and/or have other special people write out recipes for them. It’s personal, and yes, it takes time and effort — something we’ve gotten away from with all this technology. Check it out HERE where you can order a hard or soft cover. Once there, click on READ SAMPLE to see the pages within. I especially like the “measurements and conversions” page. Also, I make no money from any sales, I just love the idea of this book. Missing my mom as I do, seeing her handwriting always makes me feel closer to her. Give that gift to someone else by writing out a favorite recipe.
I like this. It’s a great for a hot day.
Rejuvenating feel good drink.
Thanks, Matt, glad you liked it.
