Serving Suggestions

Serve warm with:

  • A cup of hot coffee, tea, or chai latte.
  • A dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Extra fresh fruit on the side.

Additionally, this casserole also makes a great make-ahead breakfast or brunch dish. Assemble it the night before, cover and refrigerate, then bake in the morning. Remove from the fridge to warm up while the oven is heating up. Also, remove the cover. Because the casserole is starting out cold, it may require a few minutes more in the oven.

Make It Your Own

  • Add diced apples or pears for more fall fruit goodness.
  • Sprinkle in cinnamon sugar before baking for extra spice.
  • Use pumpkin spice in place of ginger and nutmeg for a twist.

Storage Tips

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or a low oven. This dish does not freeze well once baked, but can be prepped in advance and baked fresh.
