Black Russian Pie
Black Russian Pie features an Oreo cookie crust with a marshmallow, whipped cream, and Kahlua filling. Yes, I said Kahlua, that delicious adult rum and coffee liqueur. Then, top it off with some homemade whipped cream and some chocolate shavings. Perfect after-dinner dessert. Please eat dessert responsibly.
Wondering what after-dinner drink to serve with which dessert? No worries, serve them both in one.
You can taste the smooth and rich Kahlua in this decadent pie. The cookie crust is perfect with the cool fluffy marshmallow and whipped cream filling.
Making a Black Russian Pie
Make the pie crust from scratch or buy one already made for you.
I went ahead and bought one already made, but the instructions for making one from scratch is on the recipe card.
I have to say, though, that serving a nice dessert in an aluminum pie dish isn’t my favorite, but they are delicious and easy.
Whether you make it or buy it, place the crust in the freezer while you melt the marshmallows.
In a medium or large pot, begin melting the marshmallows on low heat. Add in the milk and salt and stir often.
You do not want the milk to burn, so keep stirring.
Once the marshmallows start to soften, keep stirring and push down lightly to help them along. Once they’re melted, remove from the heat for about 20 minutes.
While that’s cooling, whip the heavy whipping cream in a chilled bowl. You need an electric mixer for this or a bionic arm.
Once the marshmallow mixture is cool, add in the Kahlua, then the whipped cream.
Let this set up for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Pour the pie filling into the pie crust, then place it back into the freezer until firm.
All that’s left is deciding if you want to decorate or not.
You can make more whipped cream, even Kahlua whipped cream. Beat 1/2 a cup of heavy whipped cream with 1 tablespoon of Kahlua until stiff peaks form.
Or, buy a can of whipped cream or some Cool Whip.
Chocolate swirls or shavings are always a nice touch. Can there ever be too much chocolate on anything? I didn’t think so.
