Slow Cooker Beef Broccoli
Bold flavors of ginger, garlic, and sesame oil enhance this Slow Cooker Beef Broccoli recipe. The sriracha sauce adds flavor and just a hint of heat. Meanwhile, the brown sugar balanced with soy sauce and green onions make the sauce simply spectacular. The sirloin steak is super tender and the broccoli is steamed to perfection. Serve the beef and broccoli in the sauce over a fragrant rice, such as basmati or jasmine, and BOOM! You’ve just served up a restaurant worthy meal.
You’ll think you’re in some fancy joint enjoying this Slow Cooker Beef Broccoli. No, really. The flavors are so perfect together and the meat is so tender.
You may not want to share, but you know it’s the right thing to do.
Making Slow Cooker Beef Broccoli
As you may have guessed, you’ll need a crock pot for this recipe.
More importantly, if you have slow cooker liners, you know how handy they are.
If you aren’t familiar with them, they’re like a big bag that you put into the crock pot before you add anything. It lines the crock pot and makes the clean-up super easy.
You don’t need one, but they sure are great. They’re made by Reynolds, check them out here.
Ok, onto the food. Buy the sirloin already thinly sliced, then cut them into bite-sized pieces. Put the steak into the crock pot, then grab a large bowl.
In the large bowl, mix everything that becomes the delicious sauce: beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, sriracha, and lastly, 3 of the 4 green onions. Save the 4th for garnishing later.
Pour this over the sirloin and stir. Cook on LOW for 3 1/2 hours and enjoy how your whole kitchen fills with a delicious aroma.
Thickening the sauce.
In a glass or small bowl, mix the flour and water together. You can also use corn starch instead of the flour.
Make sure you thoroughly mix the flour and water to where there are no lumps.
Also, have the broccoli florets washed and cut, ready to go.
Why is that? It’s not recommended the lid be removed from the crock pot unless necessary. It adds cooking time, so get the flour/water ready, and the broccoli ready, then lift the lid.
Stir in the flour/water mixture, then quickly stir in the broccoli, and re-cover.
Keeping it on LOW, set the timer for 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, you can get the rice started so it will be done when the beef broccoli is.
I’m all about using what I already have, but it you have a choice, make one of the fragrant rices. For instance, basmati and jasmine are both very tasty and smell delicious on their own.
I’ve also used pasta. Like I said, I use what I have.
To serve…
In a bowl or on a plate, spoon some rice and flatten it out some. Pour some of the beef broccoli over the rice, along with the sauce.
Garnish with sesame seeds and that 1 remaining green onion. So good, I can’t wait for you to try this one.
