Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken has simple ingredients, but delicious, bold flavors of honey, soy sauce, and of course, the garlic. The chicken falls apart, it’s so tender, so that it’s easy to shred with two forks. Then, thicken the sauce before serving over a bowl of rice. Restaurant quality, but in the comfort of your home.
Don’t feel like cooking? Me either. Dump a few ingredients into the crock pot, and let it do all the work for you.
Each ingredient that goes into this recipe has strong flavors that blend perfectly.
Serve over a bed of rice for a scrumptious meal.
Making Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken
I love slow cooker liners, because they make cleanup so much easier.
If you have them, drop one in. If you don’t have them, you should try them.
Anyway, start by making the sauce.
In a small bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, and chili sauce.
Pour a little into the crock pot, not a lot; just to get something under the chicken before you put it in.
Then, add the chicken. Pour the rest of the sauce over the top and cover it.
Is this easy, or what? Love it!
Cooking heat and time.
Now, if you have the time, I recommend setting it on LOW heat for 6 – 8 hours.
It is, after all, a slow cooker…let it cook slowly. Ultimately, the chicken will turn out more tender this way.
Otherwise, set the heat on HIGH for 3.5 – 4 hours.
Which ever way you set it, the internal temperature for chicken should be 165°.
Also, every crock pot is different, and some chicken breasts look more like they came off a pterodactyl, than an actual chicken.
I set mine for 7 hours on LOW and it’s perfect every time.
Thickening the sauce and shredding the chicken.
When the chicken is done cooking, it’s time to thicken the sauce and shred the chicken.
Normally, with a crock pot, you don’t ever want to lift the lid until it’s done, but now we have to.
Pull out about 1/4 – 1/2 cup sauce and put it in a small bowl.
Whisk in the cornstarch until it’s dissolved, then stir it back into the crock pot.
Also, while the lid is off, take two forks and shred the chicken. It should literally fall apart.
Give it a stir, and put the cover back on for about 15 – 20 minutes, which gives the sauce time to thicken up. Then it’s ready.
Serving Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken.
Serve over a bed of rice, such as basmati or jasmine. The fragrant rice adds a nice balance to the bold flavors of the sauce.
You can also serve it over quinoa, brown rice, or cauliflower rice. Basically, whatever you love most.
If you’re feeling fancy, top your dish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and some diced green onion.
Delicious! And, it was so easy.

A quick mention of this wonderful blank recipe book that I helped to create with a very dear friend. Write in one or more recipes before giving it to that special person, then they can fill the remaining pages with their favorites, and/or have other special people write out recipes for them. It’s personal, and yes, it takes time and effort — something we’ve gotten away from with all this technology. Check it out HERE where you can order a hard or soft cover. Once there, click on READ SAMPLE to see the pages within. I especially like the “measurements and conversions” page. Also, I make no money from any sales, I just love the idea of this book. Missing my mom as I do, seeing her handwriting always makes me feel closer to her. Give that gift to someone else by writing out a favorite recipe.
This is easy and really good.
I’m so glad you liked it. I love a tasty EASY recipe.
