Sweet Basil Garlic Butter

Sweet Basil Garlic Butter is a delicious spread that’s perfect over cooked vegetables, fish, or a grilled steak. With just a few ingredients, (and about 20 minutes), turn ordinary butter into something amazing.

Sweet Basil Garlic Butter

Serving something as simple as butter can have a big impact on flavor.

Take a simple tilapia fillet or green beans; adding a dollop of this butter over either one adds a lot of flavor and makes the meal much more interesting.

It’s also a beautiful gift to give someone who has everything.

A spread made with olive oil, wine, and chopped basil.

Making Sweet Basil Garlic Butter

In a small sauce pan or skillet, heat the oil.

Add the minced garlic and cook for one minute.

Then, add the chopped basil and red wine.

Stir and cook this mixture until dry.

In other words, keep cooking until the wine cooks itself out leaving the basil and garlic behind.

At that point, remove the pan from the heat and place in the refrigerator.

Chill for about 10 minutes.

Next, beat the butter for a few minutes. Make sure the butter is room temperature so it can be whipped up light and fluffy.

Then, add the sweet basil mixture from the refrigerator.

Also, add the remaining ingredients; salt, pepper, mustard, and lemon juice.

Beat until thoroughly combined.

The butter is ready at this point, but like many foods, it tastes better when it’s had time to marinate in the refrigerator.

Hot dinner roll with melted spread flavored with a wine reduction sauce and basil leaves.

Store your Sweet Basil Garlic Butter in the refrigerator in a sealed container.

Thirty minutes before serving, remove the butter from the fridge to warm up on the counter.

Serve this delicious butter on fish, cooked vegetables, or on hot dinner rolls. Yes!

Throw a pat on a hot grilled steak, or in a hot baked potato. Yum! Additionally, spread on a sandwich for a flavor boost. The uses are endless.

It also makes a unique and thoughtful gift; place the butter in a cute mason jar with a simple ribbon or bow on top.

Sweet Basil Garlic Butter can also be frozen in a sealed container for a few months.

One other thought, you can also roll this butter in some waxed paper to shape it so it fits nicely in your butter dish.

The alternative is to put it in a bowl or container that can be sealed.

A quick mention of this wonderful blank recipe book that I helped to create with a very dear friend. Write in one or more recipes before giving it to that special person, then they can fill the remaining pages with their favorites, and/or have other special people write out recipes for them. It’s personal, and yes, it takes time and effort — something we’ve gotten away from with all this technology. Check it out HERE where you can order a hard or soft cover.
