Making Sugared Cinnamon Crackle Cookies

Heat that oven up to 375ยฐ. Heating up the kitchen with anything “cinnamon” makes me think of Autumn; a truly delicious season.

Anyhow, let’s make cookies.

In a large bowl, mix together your cake mix with the melted butter and eggs.

As for the cake mix, use either a vanilla, French vanilla, white, or yellow flavor. They’re all neutral enough that the sugared cinnamon coating will steal the show.

Sugared Cinnamon Crackle Cookies are an easy recipe rolled in a sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Then, in a smaller bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Similarly, you can buy Cinnamon Sugar, which is the same thing, only it comes pre-mixed.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll them around in the sugar mixture until well coated. No need to chill dough first, but you can if you want or need to.

I assemble four at a time; make four balls, place them all in the bowl with the sugar/cinnamon in it, then swirl the bowl around so the balls roll in it. Placing more than four balls in my bowl made them too crowded, but four was just right.

Next, place the coated balls on an ungreased cookie sheet about 2-inches apart, which gives them room to spread a little.

Bake them for 9 – 11 minutes, or until the edges are firm and cracks appear. Let them cool for a few minutes on the pan, but then remove them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cracks on the tops of each cookie with the soft center and sweet delicious taste.

Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Cake Mix Options: Try French vanilla for extra depth or yellow cake mix for a rich, buttery flavor. White and vanilla are always delicious.
  • Add-ins: Mix in white chocolate chips or chopped pecans for a fun twist.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for 3 months.
