Cake Pan Dinner Rolls are soft and fluffy, buttery and delicious, also easy to make.

When it comes to making bread, I am a self-proclaimed rookie. I have to say, though, that these dinner rolls are really easy to make.

This was all done by hand, no mixers, just a bowl and wooden spoon. I felt like such a pioneer.

Also, it’s nice to have a small batch of rolls that can be served from a cake pan.

The perfect bread with butter and honey, or for mopping up gravy and sauces.

Making Cake Pan Dinner Rolls

First, grease the bottom and sides of an 8-inch cake pan with either butter or non-stick spray. Set aside for now.

Next, in a measuring cup or small bowl, mix together the packet of dry yeast with the warm water. While this mixture does its thing, mix the remaining ingredients together.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, shortening, and salt. Then, pour in the yeast mixture and stir to combine.

No mixers are needed, just a bowl and a wooden spoon. Oh, and some elbow grease.

Cake Pan Dinner Rolls are easy to make, even for beginners, with easy-to-follow instructions.

Once combined, lightly flour a work surface, and turn out the dough to knead for about a minute. If the dough is too sticky to knead, sprinkle a small amount of flour over the top and keep going.

Then, divide the dough and form into 12 balls. Place the balls into the prepared cake pan and cover with a towel.

Place the cake pan in a warm area, thus allowing the dough to rise; approx. 1 hour.

At this point, preheat the oven to 400° and remove the towel. Place the cake pan in the center of the rack and bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is a beautiful, golden brown.

I leave the rolls right in the cake pan when I serve. The pan cools off quickly enough that they don’t keep cooking, plus it looks unique to serve this way.

Store the Cake Pan Dinner Rolls in an air-tight container for a few days, or freeze for up to three months. Defrost by leaving them in their container on the counter overnight.

Cake Pan Dinner Rolls are easy and fun to make, plus they smell delicious as you take them fresh from the oven.
