No Bake Butterscotch Apple Dessert
This luscious dessert tastes like a candied apple, an apple pie, and an apple cheesecake all in one. No Bake Butterscotch Apple Dessert has layers of graham cracker crust, cream cheese, butterscotch pudding, and apple pie filling. So many delicious flavors in one place.

Simple ingredients create a dessert with complex flavors, but the best part is you won’t need your oven. That makes this treat a perfect make-ahead dessert for holiday parties.
You’ll need to carve out a spot in your fridge, however, for a 13 x 9″ baking dish, but that’s part of the fun.

Making a No Bake Butterscotch Apple Dessert
Starting with the crust, mix the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter, then press it into the 13 x 9″ baking dish. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator so the crust can set up.
Meanwhile, make the first layer. Beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy, then add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Beat until combined.
The crust hasn’t had time to fully set, so it will be fragile. Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the crust and gently spread it into an even layer.

Next layer: beat the pudding into the milk until smooth and creamy. No lumps here!
The apple pie filling goes in next, but first, chop the apple chunks into smaller pieces. This gives you cleaner cuts when you go to serve it, plus it’s easier to eat. In two batches, place 1/2 the apple pie filling in a deep bowl. Chop using two steak knives crossing each other. Quick and painless.
Then, stir the apple pie filling into the pudding mixture.
The cream cheese layer hasn’t had time to set up, either, so carefully dollop the pudding mixture over the top, then gently spread into an even layer.

The last layer is the whipped topping. Then decide if you want to top your dessert with some roasted or candied pecans, which I recommend. So yummy!
Cover and refrigerate the dessert for 4 hours minimum, or overnight.

A quick mention of this wonderful blank recipe book that I helped to create with a very dear friend. Write in one or more recipes before giving it to that special person, then they can fill the remaining pages with their favorites, and/or have other special people write out recipes for them. It’s personal, and yes, it takes time and effort — something we’ve gotten away from with all this technology. Check it out HERE where you can order a hard or soft cover. Once there, click on READ SAMPLE to see the pages within. I especially like the “measurements and conversions” page. Also, I make no money from any sales, I just love the idea of this book. Missing my mom as I do, seeing her handwriting always makes me feel closer to her. Give that gift to someone else by writing out a favorite recipe.
What I really love about this dessert is that it was so easy to make and I didn’t even have to turn on my oven. It held up really well for a few days in the fridge. The flavor combo of the apples and the butterscotch was really delicious. That flavor combo got my imagination running and I started planning what I might do to tweak this recipe next time – blueberry pie filling and vanilla pudding, cherry pie filling and cheesecake pudding, or a whole bunch of different combos of sugar free options in both pudding and pie filling for a satisfying dessert without the calories.
Great ideas, Roxann, you should be a food blogger! I love the idea of the cherry pie filling and cheesecake pudding. Thanks for sharing.
